BURYING A BABY
Hey Gang,
In this blog I really want to be a help to you. I want to help your growth, encouragement, leadership, success, and your faith. Today I have to bury a child that died in his dad’s arms only minutes after he was born. This will make the second burial I have done for a child in as many weeks. It is no fun staring at a casket less than two feet long. I am not trying to be morbid or to make you cry, but “stuff happens.” This difficulty happened to a great and godly family. They serve God at FPC and are very faithful. This family prayed for the Lord to heal their son. They could have chosen to abort the child when the doctors told them there were problems, and that there would be massive physical problems with the child if they carried him to term. This family loves God and put the whole deal in His Hands. I applaud them for their heroic effort to go all the way for this tiny life. I can’t imagine carrying a baby to term and then watching the life pass quickly away. Only a mom who has experienced this can know the pain.
I pray that God will give me the words of encouragement they need today as they huddle with their family and Christian community. Death was not in the original design that God had in the Garden of Eden. We blew it in disobedience and death was the result. We serve a God that is good and can be trusted to do the best as far as we are concerned. I hope you trust Him in the good times and the bad. Today will be a day of miracles, ’cause God is going to show up.
Just a thought.
Love, Pastor
God can show up on a sun-soaked beach, or in a storm of circumstantial difficulty.

Pastor Chris,
The only thing we have to cling to is what you wrote yesterday “Faith is the substance” What is a substance, isn’t it faith is something real, something tangible that you can hold, when everything around seems unreal, untrue and impossible Faith is the Substance.
David knew his faith had substance, not because of David’s own behavior, but the principle of God’s blessing is not given because we are good, God blesses because He is good. David knew with every fiber of his being that the child was going to be in Heaven, David knew his God and this knowledge of God gave him the faith that had the substance That allowed David to say I will go to my child! And it is said of David, he went into the house of the Lord and worshiped. Worship should be the result of every encounter with God . Worship God and ask him “Lord increase my faith.”
Therefore David said to his servants, “Is the child dead?” And they said, “He is dead.”
2Sa 12:20 So David arose from the ground, washed and anointed himself, and changed his clothes; and he went into the house of the Lord and worshiped.
And he said, “While the child was alive, I fasted and wept; for I said, ‘Who can tell whether the Lord [29] will be gracious to me, that the child may live?’
2Sa 12:23 But now he is dead; why should I fast? Can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me.”
I like to think about the the thought you had mentioned in the service and that is what does Mitchell look like in heaven. So many pictures went through my mind of him running, swinging and holding his arms out for Jesus to catch him as he took his first steps
We appreciate all the emails and prayers for Braden this month. If you are reading this, please sign the guestbook @ http://www.helpbraden.com/ for Kelley.
I have never had such a hard time putting together a photo slideshow as the one for my nephew. Watching my son in the video carrying around Braden at our house and doing baby talk was rough stuff. It was just as hard for me seeing the kids pain as my own.
