An Easter to Remember!

Hey Friends,

It is Monday morning and I just put my journal and Bible down, and I am overwhelmed at the goodness of God. His favor, grace, mercy, and presence are awesome! I feel like the most blessed pastor in the world. I feel like God’s most favorite servant. 30 years ago this month I was rescued by Jesus and He has not ceased blessing me for even one day. Thank You Lord for you indescribable gifts.

Well this past weekend was an Easter to Remember! We had almost 7700 in attendance in 14 services in 5 locations. What is even cooler than the record attendance is the fact that people walked out of the prison cell of sin every service. How cool it that?

We launched our new North Knox Campus with 1208 in attendance! Another Eph. 3:20 answer to prayer:

“Exceedingly abundantly above all you can ask or imagine…”

As I write these miracles down I am blown away about our future and the favor of God falling on us and setting the captives free. How many will walk out of their prison cells of sin? 1000s and even more. God’s hand is on Faith Promise in an unusual way and we are grateful. I received emails and notes yesterday from some of the core at North Knox. Many wept as they had to give up their seats for new souls. Faith Promise has the heart to win the lost.

I wanted to say thank you to all the staff, volunteers, and core team that worked so hard to make this weekend a success. My son Micah who had the idea to film a movie and so many that invited lost friends and family. Faith Promise truly is a team and a family after the heart of God.

This weekend we start a new series called Road Trip! The topic is how to walk into your promised land purchased by the blood of Jesus. Help me get the word out so no one misses the start of the new series.

To God be the glory great things He has done!

Love ya,

Pastor Chris

Multisite Strategy is a Miracle at Work!

Hey Friends,

I pray your ministry is rocking as there has never been a better day to serve Jesus and to build His Kingdom. This past weekend I went to our Blount County Campus. I was blown out of the water by how God is moving. Two weeks ago we had over 700 in attendance on that campus alone. Many have been saved and so many are serving the Lord faithfully there.

I have to tell you what happened in the lobby. I was there greeting people as they were arriving for Worship. One lady saw me and she lit up like a Christmas tree. She walked over to me and Chuck Carringer and said: “YOU are my Pastor and I love you. I tell all my friends and family that Faith Promise is the best church and you’re the best Pastor. I put it on facebook every week how God moves here. And oh yes, it’s great to MEET YOU.”

I was floored! You cannot tell me God can’t use a video message. He can! Our God is not limited. That happens multiple times whenever I visit another one of our campuses. God is still at work.

Let me share with you a second thing that I witnessed there at the Blount County Campus: Honor! This past weekend while I was there we had to deal with a very delicate situation. We had covered it with prayer and went and shared with the church. I was shell-shocked with the honor that was given the leadership. This is so rare today!

Remember, this is a campus I seldom travel to and yet in the midst of a mess they showed great honor to me and the senior leadership at Faith Promise. I just basked in the goodness and favor of God, and the awesome attitude of the Blount County Saints. God is truly at work.

Our God is not dead, not asleep, He is not on a journey or retired, but He is on the Throne of the universe and He is still working miracles and transforming lives!

On Easter we will launch our fifth campus. It will be in North Knoxville and will meet in the Expo Center on Clinton Hwy. I believe God will do it again and hundreds and even thousands of lives will never be the same. We serve a mighty God!

Thanks, Blount County and Pastor Wayne Burress. Keep rocking for Jesus!

Love ya,

Pastor Chris

Extraordinary Favor Requires Extreme Faith

Hey Friends,

We all want God’s favor to rush over us like a raging river! There is only one problem with God answering our prayers – we will have to have our faith increased to match the new challenges! Having our faith increased requires gut-wrenching prayer and some stressful situations. When we are in a position that requires faith and there is nothing we can do about it, it is uncomfortable. We do not like uncomfortable!

Being in a position of faith puts us in a place of utter dependence and total desperation. We realize and recognize that we are not in control. As I look back over almost 30 years of ministry, the things I asked God for years ago look small today. I can promise you they were not small then! As God continues to pour His favor on me I have to have more faith.

In the last few weeks I have been in crisis mode. Josh Whitehead, our Executive Pastor, showed me the budget for Faith Promise for 2012. Let me bottom line it for you – a 21% increase! $3,000.00 dollars a day more. The increase is due to the launching of the North Knox Campus in March and the expanded Pellissippi campus. Gut Punch!  What do I do? This is huge… a time of stress, freaking out, etc., then time to remember all God has done.

Expanded Favor Requires Extreme Faith!

We all want His blessings, favor, Hand, and increase of so many things, but what of the feeling and the faith required? This is why so many shrink back at the blessing of the Lord.

As I write this blog I have just finished my prayer time. I am asking the Lord for a million dollar month this December. December is a great giving month, but 1,000,000.00? Extreme! This is what we need to finish the year and be in shape for 2012. So, I need extreme faith for all that we are asking the Lord to do.

I could go on, but I think you get the picture. Would you pray with me and agree for God to move? In what area do you need favor and then faith? To have one, the other is required!

How do you see it?

Love Ya,

Pastor Chris

P.S. I would love some help getting the word out about the new book.

The Favor of God

Hey Friends,

Do you have the favor of God on you?

Have you found favor in His eyes? Have you ever asked the Lord for His favor to fall on you like a heavy fog? If you haven’t, you’re in pretty good company. Few Christ followers ever consider asking the Lord for His favor. Odd to me, since as you read the Bible you find it on so many of the pages. Every person used mightily of the Master had a heavy dose of His favor.

Favor is something I ask for on a daily basis. I think of Joseph as he found favor in the eyes of everyone of his captors. He was promoted everywhere he went due to the favor of God on his life. You see it on Moses, Daniel, King David and so many others. Paul pursued it with a passion. In Gal. 1:10 he said,

“For am I now seeking the favor of men, or of God?

A rhetorical question with the answer so clear no one could misinterpret it. In 2 Cor. 1:11, he asks the Church to pray for him so the favor of God will be with him.

So, let me ask you again, do you seek the favor of God? Do you think it might be a good thing to do? As a leader and a person of faith you need all the favor you can get. You need it from God and from the people you lead. Even with the decisions you make, the favor of the Father can cause them to be received with overwhelming acceptance.

If you want to be a winner, an overcomer, a spiritual Spartan for the Savior, then you need His favor all over you. I pray it falls on you to such a degree that everyone you come in contact with sees it all over you. I pray they glorify our Father that is in heaven. As a leader looking to reach your full potential, favor must be part of your foundation.

Can you feel it falling on you?

Love ya,

Pastor Chris

P.S. Pray for His favor to fall on our Lit Conferences.

Number 48 in the Country!

Hey Friends,

I have to tell you I am still blown away and I never dreamed it. Faith Promise was just listed as the 48th fastest growing church in America. That is just mind-blowing! Don’t forget, because I don’t, that I am just a washed up ex-druggie that God saved and decided to use. Now look – Pure God! He can use anything or anyone He chooses.

When Michele and I took our first church plant in the bayou of southwest Louisiana, we never saw this coming! I believe God has big plans for each of us. I also believe I am one of His favorites. I’m still surprised at how few people challenge me on that thought.

I am so thrilled with the team that God has assembled at FPC. The staff and volunteers are first rate! We have the best staff Executive Team, all staff, Elders, Leadership Team, Small Group Leaders, and I could go on. God has blessed us with so many committed Christ-followers who are willing to sacrifice and give their lives for the Lord and His Kingdom. We are so blessed to get to serve with this team.

Rarely does anyone do something great alone. Faith Promise is a family of thousands. It may have grown large but it is still a family. Every day I have to pinch myself to make sure I’m not dreaming. God is indeed so good. If  He never did anything else for me after saving me, it still would have been far more than I deserve. He never quits blessing His kids.

“Rejoice with those who rejoice and weep with those who weep.” Today we are rejoicing because of the favor of God.

In less than three weeks we launch our next campus in Blount County. More souls saved from hell and placed in heaven – that is what we are all about!

Be blessed and walk under an open heaven!

Pastor Chris
