God’s Favorite!
Hey Friends,
For years I have made the comments that, “I am the Lord’s favorite” and “the Trinity meets in emergency session to think of new ways to bless me.” The first time people hear this they are usually blown away and do not know what to say in response. I have to say I enjoy watching them try to process the comments. After several years of telling people that, only a few times has anyone challenged me to say they think they are His favorite. I wonder why?
As you think about you and God, how do you see your relationship? Are you His favorite? Are you one of His favorites? You are probably thinking, “That is silly Chris; why even ask such a question? He loves us all the same.” I ask it because it reveals your view of you and God. It also will determine how you interpret situations and events. It will help or hurt you when problems arise. Is God “getting you” or “testing you?”
We all have to process the problems and events in our life and leadership. I choose to believe that I am the Lord’s favorite and He has my best interest at heart. I know He is with me and watching me ’cause He said so. Why not take care of His favorite?!? Daily, I look for great things to happen. Daily, I look for miracles and great opportunities. Why? Because He loves me and desires to do great things for, and in and through me – His favorite.
Remember, our outlook and attitude is a choice! So, how do you see you and God? What do you see for the future? How will you interpret the issues of your life. I could list verses and back up everything I have said, except I’m His favorite. Romans 8:28 says, ”He works all things for good…”
Today, as a leader choose to believe the Word applies to you and was written to you, because it was. Live free and full of joy!
Got your back,
Pastor Chris

I know that God cares about everyone and wants a strong strong relationship with every person as lord, caregiver, provider, etc. He’s very happy when any sinner rejects his sin and follows him. He forgives and embraces people regardless of their past and the sins they struggle with in the present. He loves all of his children (saints) immensely. I still wouldn’t say that he loves us all the same. He certainly is not pleased with all of us the same. God has a stronger relationship with some than others.
It’s complicated. The suffering, possessions, different spiritual gifts, and temptations of a person do not indicate the relative love and favor of God. I’m not trying to say you earn grace. God continues to give me grace and encouragement even when I am not close to him. I never would have been saved if he didn’t give me grace and encouragement even when I wasn’t close to him. However, your commitment, admiration, love, dependance, obedience, trust, and passion for God are all important in how strong your relationship with God is, how pleased God is with you, and how your life is molded by God.

My daily prayer is that I can live my life in such a way the he is proud of me and I also pray that HE gets a KICK out of me. Might sound funny but would it not be great to know that the Chairman of the Board of the UNIVERSE got a kick out of you today? That is MY prayer daily!
Reflection during the morning… which I’m thinking is God’s correction of my previous post:
But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. – Romans 5:8
I learn a lot from sermons intended for middle schoolers (which is where I recently heard this verse talked about). The disconnect between hearing and understanding just took awhile this time. It’s not a question of how much God loves us; that’s constant and immense. Parents love children even when they are acting poorly. However, my commitment, admiration, love, dependence, obedience, trust, sweat, and passion for God all affect:
(1) how strong my relationship with God is,
(2) how pleased God is with me,
(3) what kind of blessings I receive,
(4) whether my prayers are heard and graciously responded to (God won’t help me when it feeds me living more and more sinfully)
(5) and what duties he’ll assign to me.
I’m at least closer to understanding this than when I woke up today. That’s good.
Just wanted to post a retraction…

Great word today. Actually woke up a bit discouraged with some leadership issues and this was the jump kick to get me into some right think’n. Although I will have to contend with you on being His favorite! I’ve had quite a journey of hardships, pain and other yuck but He has always been my strength, my joy, my comfort and you wouldn’t be able to tell that my journey was such. In my weakness, He has been my strength time after time again. Romans 8:28 has been one of my life versus. Yep, I think we’ll have to agree that He’s got more than one favorite! Thanks Pastor for the encouragement today!
I am Gods favored daughter. I’ve learned that one mans opinion or womens thoughts about me isn’t the way God sees me. Amen on that fact. I maynot have a semanary degree but I do have compassion for people and the world God has given. When angry, hurt, happy or just fedup you’ll find me in tears as I’m sure our Creator and Jesus must be for us when we do not honor or acknowlege one another in true love. Let us carry others burdons and up lift one another! At any or all costs. If they can’t they can’t if they can and don’t shame on them.
