Hey Leader – Is Joy On Your Job Description?
Hey Friends,
In the book of Nehemiah it says, “The joy of the Lord is my strength.” Is it yours? As leaders, joy should be on our job description. As a matter of fact, how can we do our job without it? As leaders in the Kingdom of God, never forget that people are constantly looking at us to see how to act. In the book of Hebrews it tells Christ-followers to imitate the faith of their leaders. So, as they follow and imitate us, do they see joy?
This Christmas season let’s lead out with joy. Let your family, friends and those you lead see the joy of Jesus shine out of you. Today we are so focused on the venue, the environment, the atmosphere, and the trappings that we can lose the most important part, which is the inside. Your heart is the most important part. Is it full of joy? If not, why not?
Don’t the followers in your church or group deserve to see a leader so full of Jesus that joy oozes out? I think that is the will of God for us. So, lets do it! Lets put joy on our job description this Christmas season.
Merry Christmas and Happy Jesus Birthday!

A much needed kick in the spiritual tale this morning. My wife and I just had this conversation and you nailed me when you said “Today we are focused on the venue, the environment, the atmosphere, and in that trap although our church is doing great, but I lost the most important part, the inside joy! Just wanted you to know God used your blog to speak to me.
Thanks for being a vessel

I totally think we get caught up in venue, details, atmosphere, etc. We do that in our own family lives day-to-day, and especially at Christmas. I’ve found that tradition is such a powerful thing, but it can be bad also in that it molds us into thinking without particular things present — a specific decoration, celebrating at a specific location, etc. — that the season of joy can’t be complete. It’s so difficult for us to think outside of those traditions.
Great thoughts. As I have been kind of dreading this Christmas, due to the loss of my mom, I realize my traditions will be forced to change this year. God’s peace is so incredible as I am praying this be the best Christmas for me and my family and even though I know it will be different, it will be filled with Joy because of my relationship with Jesus and the hope that brings!
Agree with Josh. I think a lot of time joy is the food, the presents, and the material things. Joy should come in the worship, the fellowship, and the family. Honoring the Lord on this day is what we need to focus on.
@ Robert, thanks so much for sharing and that is what the blog is for. love ya
