Put On Your Dancing Shoes!
Hey Friends,
Let me ask you a question – do you love God more than anything else? It is the first commandment, after all. Jesus confirmed it during a Q & A session. It is the number one command in the list of the “Big Ten.” It is all about worship. It is about God’s place and priority in our hearts and lives. This is the key to enjoying the abundant life Jesus purchased for us on the cross. Are you enjoying it?
So, are you dressed in a wardrobe of worship? Shouldn’t it be obvious to everyone we come into contact with? Romans12:1 says, ”Therefore, I urge you brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship.” Wow! Worship is not a once-a-week event! It is a lifestyle. We are to “present our bodies a living and holy sacrifice” – 24/7 worship in action and attitude!
So, are you dressed for worship? Today we don’t take the animals to the Temple for sacrifice, but we do bring a sacrifice to the worthy Lord. Hebrews 13:15 tells us, “Through Him then, let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that give thanks to His name.”
Life should be lived in victory and celebration to God! It is not circumstantial, but attitudinal. So, how’s yours?
It is time to put on those dancing shoes like David did. It is time to give God His glory and worship due to His name. Are you arrayed in an attire of worship?
Shouldn’t it be one of the things that marks the saints? I am convinced that is should be a mark of every leader in the Kingdom of the Mighty God.
Just a thought.
Yours to count on,
Pastor

I woke up saying the words in Heb 13:15 that you used…I asked God to show me more today…
So what does it mean to offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, the fruit of lips that give thanks to His name?
Is it just verbally saying thank you, God? because in the way I understand it…I don’t normally see speaking as a sacrifice…

They are on and i am enjoying the worship at Faithpromise! Thank you Lord for Godly leaders at Faithpromise!
To most people, to “put on their dancing shoes” in front of or along with a church congregation would be a big sacrafice to them based on their personality style or pride level(ouch!) To some it would be comfortable and natural and not so much a sacrafice. Should we do it?
Yes as the Spirit moves on the leadership. Why, because the congregation does not do thing ‘out of order’ with the leadership.
Dancing before the Lord is one expression of worship. Worship is a highly personal matter that is executed between the Lord (object of worship), and the worshipper (believer). The level of intimacy in your relationship with the Lord will determine the level of worship that is expressed. People are constructed differently emotionally speaking. Some will dance, some will never dance because it is not congruent with their emotional make up. Dancing is not an indicator of one’s level of worship, it is only an expression of worship. Where the Spirit of the Lord is there is liberty….. When God is in the house there will be ‘liberty’ to worship via the dance, while at the same time there will be ‘liberty’ not to dance. It is not whether we dance or not dance, but that we have the liberty to ‘worship’ in whatever manner your relational with the Lord dictates. ‘Liberty’ is the issue, not whether we dance or not.
I went to a Christian mens’ conference for the first time this weekend. It was awesome to have about a thousand men whole-heartedly sing to God. I don’t dance well, but I often enjoy dancing before God. It helps me connect to God at an emotional level. I agree that not everyone is a dancer or a singer, but everyone can celebrate in some way. If you don’t have an avenue to express joy and overflowing love of God, then you need to pray and be shown one. If you can express joy to things besides God, but can’t express joy to God… that’s a problem, ask God for help. For me, emotional expressions to God help me not be overly intellectual or logical with God.

Some great thoughts Mickey, I agree with every statement except one, I do not agree that some people will never dance because of there emotional makeup. Most people have done things ‘outside there emotional makeup’ when the Holy Spirit or anointing of God has moved on them. I would not want to limit the move of the Holy Spirit on me based on what my emotional makeup is. I suggest that many people who have never done anything out of their emotional makeup are either dead and the Holy Spirit does not move on them, they do not recognize the leadership of the Holy Spirt or the disobey the leadership of the Holy Spirit. (and I am not just referring to dance).
Hey Robert,
I agree with you in principle. Maybe I should have qualified that statement a little more. I have been in some services where the Presence of God was so strong that there was tremendous liberty for people to respond outside of their normal emotional makeup. The reality is some will respond to the anointing of His Presence, some will not. That is the reality. I agree with you that the powerful dynamic of God’s Presence should engender a response no matter your emotional makeup. I came up in Pentecostal churches, so I have seen even in those context where the moving of the Spirit is some what common, yet there are always those who do not respond for whatever reason. Some just do not yield to the Spirit’s promptings, but rather stay bound in their own personality and emotional constitution, which is too sad. In principle they should allow the moving of the Spirit to release different forms or expressions of worship.
Amen Mickey, thanks for your wise input. May we all be so transformed and daily filled to the point that we respond to the promptings of the Holy Spirit without hesitation or consideration of our “emotional makeup”/”personality style”.
