Seasons
Hey Friends,
As leaders and Christ-followers we all experience seasons. In the Book of Ecclesiastes it talks about a “time for all things under the sun.” As a leader I wonder what season you’re in right now? Last Friday, I wrote about the upcoming fall season in the Church world. Fall is usually a great growth season. It is essential that a leader recognize what season he or she is in. Timing is key for a leader.
As my buddy John Maxwell says, “The right decision at the wrong time is the wrong decision.” We leaders must learn the lay of the land and the time of the season. There are times to march forward and times to wait and pray. There are times to communicate the vision with power and there are times to stop and love the people. As leaders it is up to us to make the right call.
Right now at FPC we are in a major growth curve. We are at our highest attendance ever and growing. We will open up our on-campus satellite in two weeks to handle the increasing crowds. The senior team and leaders are praying through our options for growing to the next level. Now is the time to share the vision for the next step once we have it. At FPC we have gone through many changes and not all have been easy. Picking the right time for a move or change makes it easier on everyone involved.
I know it is hard enough to make the right decision, and to have to deal with timing makes it even harder. It is the load the leader must carry. So I ask again, what season are you in? What season is your organization in? What is the next step for you to make personally or corporately? I know God is leading us all, but sometimes it is not easy to hear what He is saying. How do you see it?
Yours to count on,
Pastor

What season am I in? Trying to learn how to live a “whatever” life? Learning how not to fit into a world that I am not suppose to fit it into and yet remain steadfast when almost everything around doesn’t make sense and still be happy. The only thing that makes sense is the word…
Not sure that makes sense…you should be inside me head (ha,ha). God is radically changing me inside and out and though this may be the hardest season yet, I love where it’s headed. I can never go backwards!!
I am a man in many seasons because there are many aspects to life. The is the spiritual season, the family season (husband and father), the work season, and the personal season. I find I have the most trouble when one season gets too far ahead or lags too far behind. This is especially true when I let my spiritual season not be the one in the lead.
But, thanks be to God, who never gets tired of waiting for his sometimes deliquent kid to catch up. I will have to think about your question more directly over the next few days.
Great question.
