The Leader’s Load
Hey Friends,
If you are a leader at any level you know the load you carry. Most of us believe no one knows the burden or load we have. I have felt like this on so many occasions. I am sure this is not the way our Lord wants us to feel. “For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” I wonder who said that? We all know.
I am sure that Lucifer wants us to feel the load and feel it alone. This is so contrary to the teachings of Christ. By the way, He made the rules – not the devil. The devil is the father of lies and of deceit. Jesus said the devil was here to “kill, steal and destroy.” He is very good at his job. He wants you to feel overwhelmed and alone, inadequate and defeated. Why? Speed of the leader – speed of the pack.
If the enemy can slow you down he slows the church, or small group, or whatever you are leading. Satan can stall the saints by stalling the leaders. How are you? Are you alone? Jesus said that He ”would never leave you or forsake you.” Do we still believe His words? Of course we do! Our emotions are the easiest door for the devil to enter. Feelings are as fickle as the wind! They can not be trusted. We can trust Jesus. You are not alone and He is with you. If you will allow Him, He will bring partners into your life to walk with you and help you carry the load.
He did it for Moses through his father-in law, Jethro. He did it for me with our Executive Pastor, Josh Whitehead. He carries the load with me, as do so many other staff members at FPC. Who is with you? Look around – you are not alone.
Here for you,
Pastor

Wow. Just what I needed to read. I never get out of bed just to get online for no reason and maybe God knew I needed to read this right away. Thanks for everything you do for the church,Pastor Chris.God is moving fast.
Good blog today! It’s hard to fight off the “nobody knows what I’m going through” feeling. But God knows. The challenge I face is to be committed enough to turn it over to Him and admit I can’t carry the load by myself.
It’s amazing to me that just when you feel the burden weigh on you and it’s all so heavy the Lord provides a website, or a phone call, or a smile from a stranger. Jesus always comes thru and he’s there for us. We have to keep telling ourselves that every day. And remember sometimes we are on the other side and can lift others burdens without even knowing it.
Thanks for todays Blog Pastor. It’s just what I needed.
Amazing blog today and a wonderful reminder of how GREAT God is and also a reminder to appreciate our support group of friends and not take them for granted, the Lord placed them in our lives for this reason!! Thanks for all you do!!
Thanks Pastor, I needed this. What a great reminder
From personal experience, I am giving a big “Amen” to what you said about the enemy using the ploy of our emotions. This is a lesson I continue to learn on a daily basis. The enemy is very good at distorting reality and making lies seem to be the truth. The battle of the mind can only be won with an arsenal of Scripture (truth).
Thanks for the encouragement Pastor!!!
From Peter’s Holy Spirit inspired writings he reminds us:”Casting all your care upon Him; for He careth for you. Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist stedfast in faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.” 1 Peter 5:7-9.
You mentioned yesterday that you were in good company with Paul, and from Peter declaration of this very thing, as well as these above commenters of your congregation, you have more company today, myself included. I often in the past, and I hope not in the future, have felt very much alone in this world. Probably every one that has breath can identify at some point in their life.
I have a friend of 30+ years who is my companion in the Lord, she is an awesome sister warrior of God and I am blessed beyond measure with her. So often the devil has tried to isolate each of us so he can whisper lies, but Jesus says: “No can do.” Just yesterday we were talking about Pastor’s blog and all the comments and I said,”You know, there’s no way I would want to be a pastor.” She agreed. A pastor’s congregation looks to him to fix EVERYTHING most often forgetting that he is called only by the grace of God. That he, and his family, are human just like the rest of us. That said, I think because God has put His desires in your heart for the call He’s given you, then you are more than qualified, because He says so. And that is an encouraging thought to the rest of us!
As well you know, from the numerous mentions that God is your partner, In your book, it is Him first that gives you what you need to carry on including Josh. Mathew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteosness; and all these things shall be added to you,. We have load baring partners as a blessing because God gives them when we seek Him first, that’s what I believe. There is also great weight in the reason why Jesus sent the twelve and the seventy out two by two. Why two are better than one. The two are cherished. And God is there with them, accomplishing great things.
I’ve been falling behind in my devotional time; well, that’s an understatement. I’ve noticed a change in my attitude due to this; a feeling of being alone. There are days I feel like I’m stuck in this dark area, with no way to see, and expected to perform 110%. Along with that, I don’t feel like I can run to anyone b/c they won’t understand. So, the point I’m making is…thank you! As I sit here at work and read the words, I ask Christ to help me, hold my hand, and shine a light for me. I really feel lighter in spirit. It helps knowing there are others around and that Christ is waiting for me to turn to him for help.
Encouraging words Pastor…thank you again!
