U 2.0
Hey Gang,
We are in one of the best sermon series we have ever had at F.P.C. called, U 2.O. It is about change. Not superficial change, but supernatural change. If you have not heard any of it, I would challenge you to listen online at www.faithpromise.org. I believe every Christ-follower should be marked by constant change. It should be a part of our make up…growing more like Christ daily, don’t you agree? In what area do you need an upgrade? In what area do you need to come clean? Where could you use some transformation? God is ready, willing and able! Are you tired of hiding? What you cover, God will uncover. He likes the light. Are you ready? Prov.28:13-check it out.
What do you think?
Love,
Pastor Chris

Thanks for sharing that verse. Here is a quick online link to the verse for those that need it: http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=proverbs%2028:13;&version=49;
COMMENTS:
This is a pretty cut and dry verse. All the way back to Adam and Eve hiding in the garden http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=genisis%203:8;&version=49; this has been an issue! People go to such great measures to hide things from other people like addictions, indiscretions, crimes.. this list goes on and on, but it is totally absurd because our efforts are futile because God sees and knows all and is everywhere!
Have you ever noticed that when God called out Adam and Eve about eating the fruit, that Adam did not take any accountibilty for his actions? He told God the woman YOU gave to be with me gave me the fruit and I ate it. I believe Adam was telling God none of this would have happened if you did not give me the woman. When he asks Eve the same question, again, no accountibility she tries to blame the serpent! Wow, the old “The devil made me do it” started in the garden.
I wonder, how many people would do the Sins they are doing if they knew that it was being videotaped and would be played at church all weekend? That would be pretty embarrasssing, so people should be really embarrassed that God knows it and sees it!
Nobody is perfect, so this is really something for everyone to think about, including myself (cough, cough) the next time we face tempation.
Change is the best part of being a christian. We are changed into new creatures, accepted ones. We are changed from a death sentence to a full pardon. Change is hard for us humans in that we want comfort even when the comfort is painful or not good for us. Change requires action on our part and we are more interested in being spectators. Change causes fear. Our bodies are set up to respond to fear by running away from it or by running to it head on. Usually the first, preservation you know. But true preservation comes from going after the fear and removing it versus hiding from it and hoping for the best. Once dealt with we move forward, released from the dread that it might come back. So I say get out of your box and face the fear, change is really just living. I need change like everyone else. I have things that I want to be different. So let me come clean. I have a love affair with food. As I have said before I have let my idol food destroy the temple. I need Gods intervention and mercy to put food back where it needs to be. This year I am planning to have surgery to help me control what I can not. I have been asking God to provide a way for me to overcome this obsession. He did. My unwillingness to change has had a great price and it is only by His grace and mercy that the cost has not been my life. I am bringing my walk into line with God and leaning on Him and not myself. I have to lose as much weight as I can before the surgery as to give me a fighting chance at surviving the surgery. Together with God and the prayers of many friends I have lost 37lbs since January 2nd. I had to get honest with myself first and then confess my inability to continue in my ways before I could truly recieve the change God has had for me all along. It feels good to be open about my issue and to finally be able to not fear what others may know or think. My freedom from food addiction is at hand and I am glad I allowed God to work through others as well as Himself to upgrade me to a new relationship with food and with Him.
I cant wait to hear the message! I think that anytime God speaks and gets people to move toward a change, its awesome!! Lets recieve the blessing with JOY!
